I'm just about to finally encounter Lunala in Pokemon Moon, but one thing that I have really liked about this game... THE DIFFICULTY! I don't think it's an extremely difficult game, but I think they certainly bumped up the difficulty from Gen 6. The Totem Pokemon especially are pretty challenging to beat most of the time. I have blacked out once, but I have lost a ton of Pokemon to strong Totem Pokemon and Boss characters. I love it

I agree! Absolutely loved the difficulty in these games. For some reason my other friends didn't seem to suffer as much as I did. Might be because my team wasn't too well balanced.
I struggled against the Wishiwashi and Lurantis and wow, the Mimikyu. None of my Pokemon could ever outspeed the two Pokemon. I lost that trial probably 5 times and then got lucky.

Oh yes the Wishiwashi and the Lurantis were pretty difficult! My team ended up being pretty balanced in the end, but for I while I did have both a Mudsdale and a Dugtrio

My team was hardly balanced. I had Primarina and Bruxish, and also had Muk and Salazzle. At one point had Marowak as well so it was a bit of a mess. My team looked nice though, they were all blue/purple.

I definitely agree - the difficulty was balanced nicely throughout the game. I do wish most trainers had more than 2-4 Pokemon, but that's just my gripe with every generation. Totem Salazzle and Totem Lurantis definitely gave me a run for my money.

Yeah I would say that the trainers could have been harder. I think one thing though that I would have enjoyed a lot too would be more trainers who used Z-moves. I know with mostly only the important characters using them made them seem more special, but if every trainer who takes the Island Challenge gets one, it would have been nice to see at least a fourth of the trainers in the game use them.

I definitely agree - the same could be said about Mega Evolutions from Gen 6. Pokemon games make it seem like your character and a few other important characters (rivals, elite four, gym leaders, etc.) only have access to the power. I get that it makes you feel as if you're special, but I feel it makes the concepts under utilized.

One thing I'd really like to see in a Pokemon game is a main story line that pushes your Pokemon past the level 60-70 mark. Grinding for those last 30-40 levels can be so time consuming or dull because of how much you have to purposefully grind or repeat the elite 4 for experience. I'd like to see the game put you at least in the 80's by the end (or at least a post game that gives you noteworthy experience). Even though games like Sun/Moon and Black/White shook up that formula a lot, the pacing is still the exact same as it has always been. Extending either the villain arc or the main quest would truly benefit the game I feel.

And that's why Pokemon Sun/Moon versions are the best since...Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. :XD:
